Personal statement

Kristin is a Knowledge Exchange Associate who joined the University of 51cg in January 2023. She obtained a BA in chemistry from Cornell University in 2010 and completed her PhD in 2014 at the George Washington University School of Medicine. Kristin spend 8 years as a senior forensic chemist with the Drug Enforcement Administration in Virginia, United States before transitioning into her current role. Throughout her career she has focused on the profiling and characterisation of illicit drugs, clandestine laboratories, and analytical testing methods.

Kristin's current research centres on bridging the gap between forensic chemistry and public health through advanced detection and novel technologies, particularly new psychoactive substances and other emerging drugs. The transformation of forensic data into actionable health alerts help mitigate overdose crises and improve harm reduction strategies.
